Separating rules, strategy, and examples

A rules explanation first identifies the board variant, then explains legal moves and how the game ends. Strategic advice depends on the position and is not presented as a rule. Each instructional example states its conditions, answer, and reasoning; it is not a tournament record or proof of an optimal move.

Source priority and scope

For competition provisions, consult the rule-making body. For platform settings, consult the current instructions for the relevant board. Historical games identify the reconstruction in use. When platform instructions differ from competition rules, we state the scope of each rather than obscuring the distinction with a general claim that the site's rules take precedence.

Authorship and review status

Ply Yard writes this material and develops its teaching exercises. Independent review by a named professional player has not been completed. We do not invent professional credentials, expert recommendations, engine certification, or association endorsements. A revision date identifies the version of an article; it does not represent external certification.

The English game guides are written directly for US readers, using established game terminology and the Chinese edition as the factual reference. They are not produced by an automated translation service. The original English About, Privacy, Terms, and Contact pages are retained, with internal links adapted to this portal.

Submitting a verifiable correction

Please include the page URL, game and ruleset, complete position or move record, the passage you believe is inaccurate, and a rule provision that can be checked. Send your report to contact@plyyard.com. We assess verifiable facts; a predicted win rate or a single AI recommendation is not a substitute for rules evidence.

Revision record

: Replaced generic fallback guides for 32 games with game-specific rules, constructed positions, three-stage exercises, and sources. Revised the six featured games to clarify eyes, komi, draw claims, shogi ownership, and gomoku variants. Preserved the original About, Privacy, Terms, and Contact text.

: Complete English guides are available for xiangqi, gomoku, chess, Go, Reversi, shogi, American checkers, Nine Men's Morris, tic-tac-toe, Chinese checkers, Jungle, Aeroplane Chess, Makruk, Halma, Connect Four, the platform's 10×10 draughts variant, Banqi, Connect6, Janggi, Hnefatafl, hexagonal chess, backgammon, Kalah, Ludo, the Royal Game of Ur, Senet, Hex, Shatranj, Sittuyin, Oware, Dots and Boxes, Turkish Draughts, Alquerque, Bagh-Chal, Fox and Geese, Russian Draughts, double-six draw dominoes, and Snakes and Ladders, with all 289 corresponding FAQs. All 38 games in the catalog now link to their complete English guides when English is selected. The Snakes and Ladders edition explains exact finishing, overshoots that stay put, landing-triggered transfers, and the absence of a bonus roll for six. It distinguishes probability literacy from tactical choices that this single-token game does not offer.
